What is the role of
an interior architect?

Understanding my profession
beyond the clichés

When people ask what I do for a living and I answer “interior architect,” the reaction is almost always the same: “Ah, so you choose colours and furniture?

Yes, but not only that. My profession is far broader and more complex than most people imagine. Behind every project lie months of reflection, dialogue, technical challenges, and above all, a singular mission: to transform a space so that it is beautiful, functional, and tells the story of the people who live in it.

My role: creating a space that
is truly yours, and built to last

As an interior architect, my primary responsibility is to design a space that meets your needs while honouring your personality, your habits, and your constraints. An apartment, a villa, a private mansion, a commercial space: each has its own soul, its strengths, but also its limitations, which I must understand and transcend. More than a profession, it is a mission that unfolds across several stages.

Listening before
drawing

Before sketching a single line, I take the time to listen to you. Your habits, your tastes, your priorities.

I ask dozens of questions, sometimes unexpected ones, to understand how you experience and inhabit space

Analysing the existing space

I visit the property, take measurements, and observe the natural light at different times of day.

I identify the strengths and constraints: ceiling heights, load-bearing walls, technical ducts, and openings.

Designing a tailored project

Once I have fully understood your expectations and the specific character of the space, I move into the creative phase. I produce 2D and 3D plans, mood boards, and realistic visual simulations.

I select the materials, colours, and textures.

Overseeing the
works

Being an interior architect is not simply about drawing plans; it is about orchestrating an entire project.

I coordinate the craftsmen, verify the quality of execution, monitor deadlines, and manage the unexpected. A dual competence: artistic and technical.

When I design a space, I must consider circulation, acoustics, lighting, ventilation, ergonomics, and safety. Every aesthetic choice must be technically achievable.

My role in enhancing the value of your property

A well-designed project increases the heritage value of a property.

In Paris, I have worked on Haussmann apartments where a considered redistribution of space made it possible to create a master suite and significantly optimise natural light.

Mistakes I help my clients avoid:

  1. Thinking purely in terms of decoration
  2. Blindly following trends
  3. Neglecting the functional dimension

The choice of materials

Every material I select must have both a strong visual presence and a pleasurable tactile quality. A veined marble, a solid wood parquet, a natural linen.

My work with craftsmen

Being an interior architect means working hand in hand with specialists.

Joiners, marble craftsmen, upholsterers, ironworkers, lighting designers: I surround myself with dedicated and passionate professionals.

The role of guide and advisor

I am not here to impose a style, but to translate your desires into an architectural language.

The connection between emotion and space

A successful interior must provoke an emotion.

Why work with an interior architect?

  1. Save time
  2. Avoid costly mistakes
  3. Achieve a truly unique result
  4. Enhance the value of your property

A personal conclusion

If I were to define my role in a single image, I would say that I am the director of your everyday life.

My work is invisible when it succeeds, yet you feel that everything is exactly where it should be.
